Ms. Michelle Brandt
Biography
Mrs. Brandt began her teaching career with DoDEA at Fort Campbell, KY in 2004. She began working at Wassom Middle School as a sixth-grade math teacher. Throughout her fifteen years of teaching, she taught math, social studies, geography, critical thinking, and research courses at Wassom and then at Mahaffey Middle School when the schools merged. Mrs. Brandt also became AVID certified during this time. Mrs. Brandt served as a leader in multiple roles during her teaching career to include team leader, math lead, Continuous School Improvement Team co-chair, and Avid team member. In 2009, she was nominated for teacher of the year for Wassom Middle School.Â
Mrs. Brandt was assistant principal at Mahaffey Middle School from 2019 to 2021. She was instrumental in the planning and opening of school during the COVID restrictions. In 2021, she accepted the role of the Secondary Math Instructional Systems Specialist for the Kentucky District. In this role she supports secondary math teachers at both Fort Campbell and Fort Knox, KY.Â
Mrs. Brandt holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree in Math and Social Studies from Austin Peay State University. She also has a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Austin Peay State University.
Mrs. Brandt is a veteran of the United States Army where she served two years as a combat medic. She spent her time at Fort Riley, KS assigned to the 300th MP Company. Her father also served 20 years in the military, and she attended DoDEA schools. Mrs. Brandt’s husband is also a retired military member.
Mrs. Brandt enjoys giving back to the military community. Mrs. Brandt is a mother to Ethan and Ayden and has three fur babies. Mrs. Brandt enjoys fishing, spending time with family, supporting Operation Christmas Child, and is a Las Vegas Raiders fan.
